Augustana is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, so your contributions to Augustana may be listed as an itemized deduction in your tax return. If you have any questions regarding tax deductibility, it is wise to check with your professional tax preparer or the IRS.

Qualified charitable distributions or QCDs allow IRA owners over 70 1/2 years old to transfer funds from the IRA directly to charities tax-free. The transfer from the IRA will not count as gross income for you. Money that would otherwise be spent on taxes can instead be used to support ministry at Augustana. And, for those who are at least 73 years old, QCDs count toward the IRA owner’s required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year.  See this document from the IRS, and contact your IRA custodian or to find out how to do this.
